lighter

today i got up from a lucid dream about people eating children alive to the sharp sound of my vibrating phone. the nightmares may have returned and my nighties may have been stained red by another painful menstruation and i may have fallen asleep sick and listening to my mother (who's been sleeping beside me lately) demand every 5 minutes that i sleep already, but—whew!—there's no denying it's a nice, cool morning.

if only i had a tougher outer shell to shield myself from being easily affected by all this negative energy coming out of noses and ears of people around, of people in my life, perhaps i'd feel lighter today.
