gustav klimt's "the kiss"
2 years have passed. i'm blogging this to mark the day, to help me never forget the happier days of my life... though, already, i'm losing good memories of the man who gave me my 1st kiss.

ugh, weddings
if i didn't love my cousin more than my life, i wouldn't be joining my younger sisters as 1 of her bridesmaids. today our juliet will marry her romeo and i'm going for moral support as defending love for some guy from a clan ours isn't in a good place with must be rough for her.
all made up (great gay hairstylist, by the way: i heart our different updos) and dressed in gold and purple, we're heading to a church further south along with our mom, brother, and amahs.
this morning the only person who knows why i hate weddings suggested i see from the bride's point of view (even though i'll probably never get to walk the isle in white as no1 seems to wanna be stuck with me for life—not even the man i love) and relish her happiness. i'm gonna do just that!
...it's just that instead of "internalizing", i'm too tempted to fall asleep again. and it's not helping that we're still in the siesta hours, that the sweet scent of liliums from the bouquets is filling the car, and that the driver's driving is smooth and lulling.
(that bump on my left cheek is a big red insect bite under all the makeup)
wish me luck!

our father's day cards
my parents are arriving from manila tonight. aaaand. since my younger siblings and i were fatherless on father's day—our old man away a lot for business—the cards my sisters and i made are just waiting to welcome tatay (and mom) back.

let's hope he's in the mood for some "sweet" sarcasm. which, by the way, we inherited from no other! hehehe.

latest experiment
for lunch i played with spicy chicken, oyster sauce and sesame oil and the result was so surprisingly savory that i had to contrast its strong flavors with something fresh and light (with a subtle zing). by some miracle, i successfully merged some elements of garden salad and turmeric rice (yay!).
lunch turned out way better than planned.
compared to the stuff i used to make before (no1 wanted to eat them at 1st as "they look dangerous!"), this 1 looks safer to eat... don't you think?
and, oh, it may not be cute to praise 1's own cooking but i'm shamelessly gonna say it anyway: my [insert name of dish as soon as i finally know what to call it] kinda rocks! the meat was warm, flavorful and slightly spicy while the rice salad was light and cooling (with the subtle zing i aimed for! whee!). everything came unbelievably well in the mouth, then tummy...
*sniffs* i never thought a moment of pride in the kitchen would come to some1 who's less of a cook than an eater (or feeder? lol!)!

dads and growing boobs
after hearing an early mass by the cute white-haired cardinal and bumping into a few of my mom's friends in church, we happened upon the smiling toothless man who supplied my newspapers in college (and even made an interesting subject for photography class and a newspaper article).
"you've grown taller," the toothless man complimented in cebuano after my mom bought a daily from him. laughing, i pointed to the inches in my shoes. it was nice to see his kind toothless smile for a 2nd time.
around 2 years ago, i interviewed him for a feature and learned that he's lived a hard long life as a newsboy (that's how guys who go around selling newspapers are called down here), a husband, and a father to many children. remembering the last part, i called to him as we were walking away. "happy father's day, 'noy!"
it was nice to see the brown toothless man who delivered my newspapers to school smile for a 3rd time.
*~*~*~*
on the way home, i borrowed the sunday paper my mom bought and, there, on a colored father's day article right in the middle was the 1st man to ever take a good long feel and look of my growing boobs (lucky! lol!).
"oh, it's dr. so and so with his son, dr. so and so," my mom leaned closer, pointing at a familiar face. "you remember him from your breast cyst checkup, right?"
being examined topless was just 1 of the most embarrassing things everrrr. how could i ever forget! hahaha.

same rain in different places
it's interesting how rain in tokyo is making 1 friend "depressed"; while rain in the tropics is (mostly) comforting to this 1 island girl.

tuko in the other kitchen

it's the size of a baby croc; it's evil-looking; and i just read in wikipedia that it bites. in short, it scares the bug out of my butt! haha.

burglar? sleepwalker? visiting vampire?
here i am in the kitchen this hour of night, finishing a warm bowl of baby cereal—the only food my overdramatic mouth sore will let me enjoy today. after being roused just as i was about to truly doze off an hour ago, i'm now unable to fall asleep. since i'm wide awake anyway, i better do something more "productive" than couting sheep.
earlier in bed and so out of the blue, i heard the unmistakeable sound of the front door locks unlock. some moments later, the loud metal gate was being opened. something weird was happening and i wasn't dreaming.
imagining a burglary or some1 sleepwalking into the street, i rolled out of bed; slipped out of my room; and checked on my mom and younger siblings. i found that 1 of my sisters was missing...
with a history of peeing in a trash can while sleepwalking once, however, i assumed her zombie days are back. but, then, not really...
the front door was slightly open. it was creepy how a little chilly breeze was entering the quiet house. sticking my head out the door, i called out to my sister while searching the darkness and freezing in my night dress. out of nowhere she appeared in my face, but not sleepwalking in the short lounge dress she wore under a big shirt.
"what's going on?" i asked, yawning a fake yawn. after all the building suspense i rolled out of bed for, she explained her boyfriend (who i mistook for a plant as it was so dark outside) decided to come by from a party to see her (did he use light from a cellphone? haha!). how odd, i thought to myself, and invited them in as it's safer inside. but they said he was already going, which made everything not make any sense to me.
so here i am with baby food and a blog entry, unsuccessfully falling back asleep and contemplating why any1 would wanna wake up or visit some1 living up a hill past midnight. don't you think it's just not normal to do that? unless that "any1" is a vampire named edward, i'd understand and maybe think it's romantic. haha.
really, i don't know what to make of it all. it was weird... my sister has strange friends.
